WELCOME !

The Group of Intelligent & Cooperative Systems / Education, Media, Informatics & Culture (GSIC/EMIC) is a transdisciplinary group which is composed by teachers, researchers and staff of the School of Telecomunications Engineering, School of Computer Engineering, and Faculty of Education & Social Work at the University of Valladolid. It is a Recognized Research Group (GIR) by the University of Valladolid, and is recognized as Consolidated Research Unit (UIC) by the Regional Government of Castile & León.

The goal of the GSIC/EMIC research group is to work in the following fields:

  • Educational technology: Learning Design (LD), Learning Analytics (LA), Educational Data Mining (EDM), middleware architectures for Distributed Learning Environments (DLE), socio-semantic technologies and linked open data, Ubiquitous Learning (UL), Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Worlds (VWs), learning at scale (MOOCs), gamification for learning, and classroom orchestration.
  • Cooperative systems: Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), and specially in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL).
  • Intelligent systems: neural networks and neuro-fuzzy systems, paying special attention to models based in the Adaptative Resonance Theory (ART).

Lead and collaborate in several research, development, and teaching innovation projects, with international, european, national, and regional funding. Some projects in which the group is currently working are:
